Productivity spring clean
Productivity isn’t just about speed, it’s about impact.
Doing the wrong things faster simply multiplies inefficiency, stress, and burnout.
Even if you’re executing at lightning speed, if the task itself isn’t meaningful or aligned with important goals, it's wasted effort.
One of the smartest productivity hacks is to eliminate or cut out what's no longer needed or could be done better by tech or others.
If you're looking to have greater impact in the work you do or the business you lead, try this:
Pick an activity that takes up a lot of your time
Write down the main steps to complete it
For each step ask: "What if I/we didn't do this?"
For each answer then ask: "What would be gained if I chopped it out?"
If the gain by stopping is greater than the "loss" of keeping it, it's time to get rid of it.
Routines and habits can be invisible productivity black holes if we allow them.
When we start to pay attention to what we normally take for granted, we discover whether what we are doing is truly valuable, or just wasted effort.
September is the start of Spring in the southern hemisphere. A time we typically purge our homes of stuff we no longer need.
It's also a great time to look at what we do and stop doing or repurpose what's no longer important.
